This starter leans on Void pages, the React adapter, the markdown plugin, and Tailwind v4. The goal is to keep the stack small while still making documentation feel considered.

Use Node.js 24.21.0 or later. The Void packages are pinned together to 1.1.11 and are available from the public npm registry. The source is available at voidzero-dev/void.

Required packages

The important pieces are:

  • void for file-based routing and static output
  • @void/react for React pages support
  • @void/md for markdown rendering and metadata extraction
  • @tailwindcss/vite and tailwindcss for styling

Why markdown is a direct dependency

Markdown support is an optional peer dependency of Void. This starter installs @void/md directly so its plugin imports resolve explicitly.

Build-time flow

The project now follows a simple pipeline:

markdown files -> shared docs route -> Vite build -> prerendered static output

Because void.config.ts sets output to static, the docs render to HTML at build time instead of waiting for runtime requests.

Alignment tips

When you update one Void package, update the related ones together. The CLI, runtime plugin, React adapter, and markdown plugin work best when they stay on matching release lines.

Next, review Deployment to see how the static output is published.
